Antwerp (Belgium), 25 November 2014
The Belgian company neoScores was today elected one of the best tech startups in the world by winning the Foxconn Prize at the Startup Nations Summit 2014. The award ceremony for the finalists took place in Seoul, Korea, in the presence of more than 1,500 VIPs and spectators. neoScores was the only Belgian company among the 45 nominated young starters and was voted into the finals by a panel of leading investors and managers. Startup Nations is an organisation that supports the world’s most promising innovative companies.
Winning the Foxconn Prize at the Startup Nations Summit 2014 is a great boost for neoScores, the young Belgian Internet company that started developing a web application for digitising sheet music in 2013. The neoScores application will go live on 5 December of this year.
Bart Van der Roost, the CEO of neoScores, comments: “We are extremely pleased with this international award. Recognition by the Startup Nations Summit will help musicians and publishers of sheet music worldwide to find their way to our web application. And, equally importantly, so will investors. For example, we want to raise funds on 13 December with KBC Bolero through crowdfunding. And, let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to invest in one of the best startups in the world? (laughs)”
The prize for winning the Foxconn Award was 20,000 USD in cash. That money will be used by neoScores for marketing and selling its web application that is the prime digital alternative to paper sheet music: simple, attractive and everything a musician might want or expect of sheet music.
Bart Van der Roost continues: “Over the last two years, we have been on an incredible journey. From an ambitious idea to a proof of concept with the Brussels Philharmonic and Samsung, a beta launch earlier this year and our real launch in early December. Thanks to the great work of organisations like Startups.be, iMinds and startit@KBC for the startup ecosystem in Belgium, we got the oxygen we needed as a young company to get neoScores off the ground. We would also like to thank our beta testers and first customers for their feedback and faith in neoScores.”
neoScores was promoted by Startups.be as the Belgian entry for the Startup Nations Summit 2014, and ultimately rewarded with a top-two place as a result. Startup Nations is a global umbrella organisation that seeks out the most promising international innovative startups every year. The companies are selected from all the world’s continents on the basis of their innovative character, market potential, product quality and pitch quality. This year, a total of 45 companies were nominated.
